Nearly two years after 7 October, Israel continues its military operations in Gaza. Despite an upcoming Cairo summit to discuss a possible peace agreement, Israeli forces have killed at least 10 people in the enclave in 24 hours. The death toll now exceeds 67,000, including around 20,000 children.

A victim of genocide / LaSexta

According to a laSexta poll, 58.5% of respondents consider Israel’s response disproportionate, whilst 41.4% believe the response to Hamas attacks was proportionate. The political divide is stark. PP and Vox voters overwhelmingly support Israel’s actions, with 80.1% of PP supporters and 86.5% of Vox voters calling the response proportionate.

On the left, the numbers flip completely. Among PSOE voters, 98.7% consider Israel’s response disproportionate, meanwhile 100% of Sumar voters share this view. Regarding whether this constitutes genocide, nearly 63% of Spaniards say yes, though 95% of Vox voters disagree.

Opinion on whether Spain should embargo arms sales to Israel is evenly split at 51.7% in favour, with left-wing voters strongly backing this measure. However, breaking diplomatic relations is less popular. Over 56% oppose cutting ties with Israel, whilst 43% support it. This option finds majority support mainly among Sumar voters.
