Barcelona police operation deployed more than 800 officers across the metropolitan area today in the tenth ‘Kanpai’ initiative targeting persistent criminals.

The massive security deployment involved National Police, Mossos d’Esquadra, local police forces and Port Police working collaboratively across multiple municipalities.

Officers conducted operations in Barcelona, Badalona, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Santa Coloma, L’Hospitalet, Esplugues, Cornellà, and El Prat.

Furthermore, security operations extended to Barcelona Airport and the metro network, areas experiencing significant criminal activity according to recent reports.

Barcelona Police Operation Aims to Change Criminal Perception

Interior Councillor Núria Parlon participated in the pre-operation briefing at the Sant Andreu police station, encouraging officers to continue working firmly to “change the perception of impunity that criminals have.” This strategic approach has been running since April, with today marking the tenth deployment of its kind.

The coordinated effort represents one of the largest security operations in recent months. Meanwhile, similar initiatives have been addressing other urban challenges, including Barcelona police training targeting illegal VTC operations that launched last month.

Authorities have identified repeat offenders as a priority concern across the metropolitan area. Consequently, this operation specifically targets individuals with multiple criminal records who continue to engage in illegal activities despite previous interventions.

Transport networks have received particular attention during today’s operation. The metro system, which has faced security challenges recently, saw increased police presence following Barcelona metro security staff launching an indefinite strike in September.

Residents across the affected municipalities reported seeing heightened police activity throughout the day. The operation demonstrates authorities’ commitment to addressing public safety concerns through coordinated, large-scale interventions targeting the most problematic criminal elements.

This Barcelona police operation represents the latest in a series of measures designed to improve urban security. The strategy focuses on creating visible police presence while specifically targeting individuals responsible for disproportionate criminal activity across the region.
