Former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau is one of several activists detained by the Israeli military. The ex-mayor posted a pre-recorded video on Instagram last night at 9pm, explaining what happened.

If you’re watching this, it means Israel has illegally detained us, she says in the video. We have no access to phones or internet, we’re completely cut off, and we don’t know for how long.

Meanwhile, Colau is asking followers worldwide to be her voice. She wants people to make as much noise as possible and pressure governments to secure their release and open the humanitarian corridor to Gaza.
CUP representative Pilar Castillejo also posted on Twitter denouncing the detention. Take to the streets, go out and protest, she said. Force them to open the corridor and end the genocide.
Castillejo hit out at what she called the Zionist state of Israel. They’ve kidnapped us in Palestinian waters, the aid hasn’t arrived, she added.
The statements came after military vessels boarded boats belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla seventy nautical miles from Gaza. The organisation says Israeli forces boarded the Alma and Sirius vessels. However, some activists report soldiers boarded several ships.
Activist Greg Stoker, part of the humanitarian mission, posted a video on Twitter. He explained that military vessels are calling the flotilla ships and ordering them to shut down engines and await further instructions. If they don’t comply, the ships will be confiscated and crew members will face consequences.
Minutes later, the military ordered the ships to proceed to an Israeli port.
