The ‘Mole’ Mistake in AP-7 Police Chase
Following the vehicle’s interception, officers requested identification from the occupants. The 27-year-old female passenger claimed she did not have her physical ID card. Instead, she presented a photograph of a DNI (national identity card) on her mobile phone.
Although the photograph bore a strong resemblance to the woman, officers noticed a crucial discrepancy. The person in the ID photo had a distinct mole, which the suspect sitting before them did not. This minute detail prompted further verification checks.
Once her true identity was established, police discovered that the woman had five outstanding arrest warrants. Therefore, she was immediately detained and placed at the disposal of the investigating court in Santa Coloma de Farners.
Reckless Chase and Suspicious Cargo
The incident occurred on 30 January at approximately 4:00 pm. Plainclothes officers patrolling a service area in Llinars del Vallès observed a vehicle abruptly changing direction. It was avoiding a police checkpoint.
When ordered to stop, the 44-year-old male driver accelerated. This action initiated a pursuit that lasted for roughly 50 kilometres. The suspect drove recklessly, endangering other motorists. Eventually, he took Exit 71 towards Aiguaviva in the Gironès region. There, a traffic patrol successfully intercepted the car.
Upon searching the vehicle, the Mossos discovered 18 items of clothing with the price tags still attached. Neither occupant could provide proof of purchase, raising suspicions of theft.
The male driver was arrested for reckless driving but has since been released. In contrast, the female passenger remains in judicial custody due to her outstanding warrants.
