Badalona police arrested two people after a bladed weapon fight in the La Salut neighbourhood, in the Barcelona metro area. Mossos d'Esquadra worked with the Guardia Urbana de Badalona on the arrests.
The fight began inside a home, where both people attacked each other with bladed weapons. It then moved into the street, where the confrontation continued in front of several witnesses. Police responded quickly.
Officers from Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guardia Urbana located and arrested both people. Both men were injured and paramedics took them to local hospitals for treatment.
The incident prompted a strong reaction from Badalona Mayor Xavier Garcia Albiol, who posted about it on social media. He said he was “extremely indignant and angry about what happened this midday in the La Salut neighbourhood” and described the people involved as “two authentic criminals”.
Albiol also used the case to criticise Spain’s immigration policy. He said, “this is the clearest proof that not everyone can keep entering Spain”, and added that people who come to work, respect the rules and contribute are welcome, while those who commit crimes should be removed.
