The Mossos d’Esquadra have launched an investigation following a dramatic Badalona computer store robbery early on Saturday morning. A gang of thieves reportedly used a vehicle to smash through the shop’s entrance-a technique known locally as an “alunizaje” or ram-raid-before fleeing the scene.

Smash-and-Grab on Carrer de Francesc Teixidó

The incident occurred around 05:30 on Carrer de Francesc Teixidó. According to reports, the establishment’s alarm system was triggered by the impact, alerting authorities immediately. Several police patrols were dispatched to the scene, but the perpetrators had already vanished.

Upon arrival, officers found only the aftermath of the raid: shattered glass from the shop window and a broken door, which had been rammed to grant the thieves access to the interior. Police sources confirmed that the group used a car as a battering ram to breach the perimeter, allowing them to quickly load their vehicles with stolen electronics and speed away.

Suspects and Vehicles Identified

Preliminary investigations suggest the crime was carried out by four individuals. Witnesses and police sources indicate the gang utilised two specific vehicles to execute their escape: a BMW and a Fiat.

Investigators are currently awaiting a formal complaint from the store owners, which will include a detailed inventory of the missing stock. In the meantime, security camera footage from the establishment and surrounding areas is being reviewed to help identify the suspects.

Pattern of Industrial Thefts

This incident follows a string of similar crimes in the region. Just last Sunday, 8 February, four industrial warehouses in Sant Andreu de la Barca (Baix Llobregat) were targeted in succession on Carrer de Isaac Peral.

In those cases, thieves employed the same ram-raiding method to breach the premises. Although alarms were triggered and police were notified, the perpetrators managed to evade capture with an undisclosed amount of loot. Police are likely to investigate whether the same group is responsible for the recent surge in these aggressive thefts, especially given that one in four residents in the Barcelona metropolitan area was a victim of crime in 2024.
