Badalona Christmas lights have officially begun their seasonal glow as the city launched its festive campaign with over one million LED illuminations.

The spectacular display, which began on Friday evening, marks the start of the holiday season across 127 streets throughout the municipality.

Furthermore, the lighting ceremony at Plaça de la Vila featured a 15-metre natural Christmas tree accompanied by a magical musical performance combining contemporary circus, live music and aerial dance.

The municipal government describes the weekend as “full of magic and illusion” with multiple events planned across the city. Additionally, the celebrations continue with the third edition of the Christmas Gastronomic Fair at Rambla del Gorg, running throughout the weekend. Visitors can enjoy festive-inspired dishes, local drinks, live music and family activities. Meanwhile, the city anticipates its main attraction – the lighting of the massive metallic tree at Plaça President Tarradellas on Saturday.

Mayor Xavier Garcia Albiol has enthusiastically invited both residents and visitors to participate in the Christmas campaign events. “This is a great opportunity to enjoy the city and experience it at one of the best times of the year,” he stated. Consequently, municipal officials expect attendance to reach approximately 50,000 people, matching last year’s successful turnout.

The Saturday evening programme begins at 5:30pm with ‘Tocant les estrelles del cel de Badalona’, a unique artistic spectacle created specifically for the city. This immersive performance fuses performing arts, contemporary circus, live music and aerial dance. The highlight arrives around 7:00pm with the illumination of the 43-metre metallic tree’s 100,000 LED points, followed by a spectacular light and music show.

These festive celebrations demonstrate how Catalan municipalities are increasingly investing in public cultural programming to bring communities together. The Badalona Christmas lights represent one of the region’s most ambitious seasonal displays, transforming the urban landscape into a winter wonderland for residents and visitors alike.
