A man has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexually abusing two sisters, aged 13 and 15, in Balaguer. This Balaguer sexual abuse sentence was handed down by the Lleida Court (Audiencia de Lleida) on Thursday. The accused admitted to the facts in a plea agreement.
The defendant appeared via videoconference from the peace court of Alcoletge due to severe wind warnings in Catalonia. He accepted the sentence as part of a conformity agreement between his defence team and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutors had originally sought an eight-year prison term for two counts of sexual abuse involving minors under the age of 16.

Details of the Balaguer Sexual Abuse Offences
The incidents took place in 2019 when the accused was 28 years old. According to the proven facts accepted by the court, the man met the two minor sisters online. He subsequently met them in person, engaging in physical contact that included kissing and hugging. However, the court noted that full intercourse did not take place.
The court heard that the man used deception to facilitate the abuse of one victim. He telephoned the school attended by one girl, claiming she needed to leave for a medical appointment. Once she was released under this false pretext, the abuse occurred. He later engaged in similar abusive conduct with her sister.
Balaguer Sexual Abuse Sentence and Restraining Orders
In addition to the four-year custodial sentence, the agreement imposes strict conditions upon the defendant’s release. He will be subject to five years of supervised liberty (probation). Therefore, to protect the victims, the court has issued a restraining order. This prohibits him from approaching within 200 metres of the sisters or communicating with them for five years.
Furthermore, the sentence includes a five-year disqualification from any employment or voluntary work that involves direct contact with minors. Judicial sources indicated that the specific details regarding the man’s entry into prison will be finalised during the execution phase of the sentence.
