Barcelona is set to add 5,000 new Catalan course places for adults, in a move aimed at clearing waiting lists from the 2026-2027 academic year.
The plan comes from the Barcelona City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya, which will work together to expand access to language classes.
The extra places are intended to respond to demand from adults who want to learn Catalan, while reducing the backlog that has built up for these courses.
