Barcelona Park Project has received a major boost, with the city council approving a €37 million investment to construct the new Ideal Flor cultural centre and a large park in the Prosperitat. The new cultural centre will feature a library, an auditorium, a gymnasium and various community spaces.

The project includes the urbanisation of the site where the building will located. It is situated at the intersection of Passeig Valldaura and the streets of Font d’en Canyelles, Santa Engràcia.Turó Blau. Moreover, a new plaza will constructed, designed as a deciduous forest with a children’s play area. Street improvements are also planned.
Timeline and Community Impact
The tendering process for both projects will begin in January. If all goes to plan, works will likely commence in the second half of 2026. However, subsequently, the facility should be functioning by the end of 2028. This investment responds to a long-standing community demand. Meanwhile, it seeks to provide the Prosperitat neighbourhood with better public facilities.
Council’s Vision for Nou Barris Xavier Marcé, the district councillor, emphasised that the project aims to “place Nou Barris in the orbit of the city through culture”. According to 20 Minutos Barcelona, the new library will be a major facility, similar in style to the Gabriel García Márquez Library. Furthermore, the auditorium will host public and cultural events.The gymnasium will address a shortage of space at a nearby school.
