He emphasised its importance given shifting EU budget priorities.

The funding comes through Integral Local Development Strategies (EDIL). It represents 40% of each project’s cost, with participating councils providing the remaining 60%.

Specific Projects Across Municipalities Santa Coloma de Gramenet plans to improve educational facilities and create new social housing. The town will also develop a hub for business and digital initiatives.

Esplugues de Llobregat will use its share to purchase housing for social needs. The funding will also help build a new local police station and a theatre-auditorium with a music school.

Viladecans aims to revitalise three key spaces: the Sant Climent road, Rambla Modolell, and Plaza Europa.

Cerdanyola del Vallès will use funds for two types of intervention. Some will justify works already completed since 2021 around Torre Llopis garden and Ca n’Altimira.

Sant Feliu de Llobregat continues its transformation following railway track burial. Broader Context and Concerns The AMB’s concern about EU budget priorities is shared by Catalan municipal organisations.

Castellana emphasised the AMB’s mission through the European Metropolitan Authorities network. “It’s the moment for European metropolitan areas: more and more people live in one of them,” he stated.

Overall, this Barcelona area funding represents a significant commitment to neighbourhood revitalisation. Stay connected with us on social media for the latest updates and news!
