Barcelona is adding more bus capacity on two key routes to help people get to the beaches this summer. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will increase service on the V29 and D20 lines from Saturday, 6 June, with the aim of easing crowding on weekends and public holidays.

The move is part of TMB’s seasonal response to higher demand along the city’s seafront. It is designed to make journeys to and from the coast smoother for residents and visitors heading to Barcelona’s beaches.

On the V29, up to four extra articulated buses will run between Diagonal Mar and Plaça Virrei Amat, near the Virrei Amat L5 metro station. During this period, the line will have two destinations, some buses will end at Virrei Amat, while others will continue to Roquetes. TMB says the enhanced service will run from 10:30 to 21:00. More details are available on the TMB website.

The D20 will also get up to four extra articulated vehicles. These will support the existing fleet on the section between Passeig Marítim and Plaça Espanya, serving the L1 and L3 Espanya metro stations. The boosted D20 service will run from 12:00 to 22:00 during peak demand hours.

TMB is advising passengers to check the front display before boarding, especially on the V29, where some buses will follow different destinations. Informers and clear signage will be placed at bus stops during the first days of the change.

The new reinforcement on the V29 and D20 builds on extra capacity already in place on the V19 since 28 March. That line, which runs from Barceloneta to Plaça Alfonso Comín, has up to eight extra buses on weekends and public holidays.
