Barcelona City Council will spend €3.2 million to fully renovate 12 dog recreation areas across seven districts, with the work running from 2023 to 2027. The council announced the plan on Saturday, as part of Plan Endreça.
The upgrades will replace sand surfaces with accessible concrete paths. They also include new perimeter fences with double gates, plus renewed irrigation and drainage systems. The council will add benches, bins, fountains, tree protectors and streetlights to make the spaces more practical for daily use.
The sites include Jardins Mestre Balcells and Parc del Centre del Poblenou, along with Parc de la Maquinista and Parc del Poblenou. Other locations are Jardins Font dels Ocellets, Parc de Monterols, Jardins de la Indústria, Plaça de la Sagrada Família, Parc del Clot, Jardins de Màlaga, Can Mantega and Joana Tomàs.
