Barcelona’s municipal dog pound is set to move from its long-standing site on Arrabassada road, according to Diari el Jardí de Sant Gervasi i Sarrià. The facility sits in the upper part of the city, close to Collserola Natural Park, and plays a key role in animal care across Barcelona.

The pound shelters and cares for abandoned or lost animals, and supports residents who need to recover pets or arrange adoptions. The relocation will affect day-to-day operations, but the city has not said where the service will move or when the change will happen.

The Ajuntament de Barcelona manages the facility, which is part of the city’s animal welfare system. Any move will need to keep services running with as little disruption as possible, while also meeting the needs of animal housing and public access.

Arrabassada road is a major route linking Barcelona with the Collserola mountain area. The current site has a relatively secluded setting, but the future use of the plot has not been announced. For more Barcelona local coverage, see our Community and Sport pages.
