Barcelona’s Port Olímpic will host the third Barcelona Electric Marine Show (BEMS) from 10 to 12 April. The event highlights the city’s role as a leader in sustainable nautical innovation.
Port Olímpic and the National Association of Electric Boats (ANBE) jointly organise the BEMS. This exhibition gathers leading companies in the energy transition sector. They present the latest advancements in maritime mobility. This year, electromobility companies also participate, strengthening the connection between land and sea transport.
Showcasing Green Marine Technology
The Menestral Dock’s exhibition area features innovative projects. Visitors can see an electric catamaran from Earthling e-Propulsion, a New Zealand company. A 100% electric jet ski from Taiga Motors, based in Canada, will also be on display. Additionally, VEGA Chargers, a Catalan firm, will showcase its new charging point for boats and vehicles.
Barcelona provides a significant backdrop for this event. The city currently hosts the Ocean Decade Collaborative Centre, a UNESCO initiative. This centre dedicates itself to developing a sustainable blue economy. The BEMS opens to the public throughout the weekend. Citizens can discover electric nautical innovations, zero-emission water sports, and electric vehicles.
Family Activities and Sustainable Awards
The Port Olímpic launches “La mar de plans” (Sea of Plans), its family activities programme, on Saturday, 11 April. This includes a wide range of proposals for all ages. Specifically, “Blue Saturday”, the Port Olímpic’s family festival, takes place that day. Morning workshops and sea-related activities will be offered. At 12:30, visitors can enjoy David Valencia’s magic show, “Abrakadabra KKDVAK”.
The “La mar de plans” programme continues on Sunday, 12 April. It features educational workshops and “The Ocean Storm”, a show by Salvamar Cirkus. Furthermore, the BEMS will host the Sustainable Nautical Awards. The ANBE organises these awards. The ceremony takes place on Friday, 10 April, in the Mestral space. It will gather professionals and experts from the sustainable nautical mobility sector. These awards recognise projects, companies, and ports that promote a more sustainable nautical industry. They celebrate innovation, decarbonisation, electrification, and energy efficiency initiatives.
The Barcelona Electric Marine Show aims to accelerate the energy transition in the marine sector. It promotes a greener future for both local residents and the broader maritime industry.
