Barcelona English Speakers has shared its latest community update from Barcelona, with the next meet-up now set for 26 June at 8pm.
The May meet-up did not go ahead, as the team said it is stretched on resources and has found it difficult to secure venues that fit its needs. The June event will be guest list only, and people can register via Meetup or Luma. The organisers have also set up a Luma group for future events.
Across its two communities, Barcelona English Speakers says it is now approaching 2,800 members, with the main group at around 1,800. The team says it will need to manage space carefully as WhatsApp groups near the 2,000-user limit.
A new electronic music space, called BCN Ravers, has also been added within the BES Social community. It is set up for people who want to share tracks, talk about electronic sub-genres, and arrange meet-ups and social plans around the scene. For more on the wider community, see our Community coverage.
On the sports side, volleyball sessions are continuing to grow, with Daria coordinating them each week. The football group, run by Nijo, Varun and Deepak, has moved to the Spond app to make games and payments easier. For more local sports updates, visit our Sport page.
The next Book Club meeting is on Saturday 13 June, when the group will read Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. The venue is still to be confirmed, but 10 people have already signed up. The update ends with thanks to everyone involved in the community, from the book club team to the sports organisers.
