Barcelona All Saints’ Day services are being significantly expanded this year with extended cemetery hours, enhanced transport connections and new green burial spaces.
The city council has announced comprehensive arrangements for the 1st November commemorations, aiming to accommodate the thousands of residents expected to visit cemeteries across the Catalan capital.
Enhanced Barcelona All Saints’ Day Transport Services
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will reinforce bus services connecting to Montjuïc and Collserola cemeteries from 25th October to 2nd November. Furthermore, the lines 21 and 107 serving Montjuïc will see increased frequency, with a special internal cemetery service operating throughout the period.

On 1st November itself, a dedicated shuttle bus will run directly between Plaça d’Espanya and Montjuïc cemetery. Similarly, services on lines 102 and 104 to Collserola will be strengthened, with additional connections between Plaça d’Eivissa and the cemetery grounds.
Cementiris de Barcelona recommends visitors plan their journeys in advance using their online tools, including cemetery maps and the deceased locator service available through their website. This planning becomes particularly important given that Catalans already face significant commuting challenges in their daily lives.
New Green Burial Spaces Transform Barcelona Cemeteries
Significant developments in burial options mark this year’s Barcelona All Saints’ Day preparations. The city has introduced new green spaces for biodegradable urns in Poblenou, Sants and Les Corts cemeteries, transforming these sites into more garden-like environments.
The newly created areas – covering 84m² in Poblenou, 78m² in Sants and featuring 128 columbaria in Les Corts – integrate burial urns with vegetation. Each cinerary grave can accommodate between two and four urns depending on size, creating more natural and peaceful memorial spaces.
These initiatives complement existing services at Collserola, Montjuïc, Sant Andreu, Horta and Sarrià cemeteries. The council confirms they will gradually extend to all city burial grounds, reflecting changing attitudes toward memorialisation in contemporary Barcelona.
Cultural Activities and New Facilities
Beyond practical arrangements, this year’s Barcelona All Saints’ Day commemorations include significant cultural programming. Montjuïc Cemetery will inaugurate a permanent exhibition space within its Collection of Funeral Carriages, displaying heritage pieces from various city graves.
The exhibition features sculptures, tombstones and ornamental elements by renowned artists including Puig i Cadafalch and Venanci Valmitjana. It aims to highlight Barcelona’s historical, artistic and cultural funeral heritage, opening to visitors from 1st November between 10:00 and 14:00 hours.
Additionally, Horta Cemetery now features a new Citizen Assistance Office located opposite the Ronda de Dalt funeral home. The office operates Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 14:30 and 15:30 to 17:30, with weekend and holiday hours from 8:00 to 14:30.
According to official announcements, cemetery offices and grounds will remain open from 8:00 to 18:00 on 1st November. The extended hours and enhanced services demonstrate the city’s commitment to supporting residents during this important commemorative period, while addressing broader social care needs throughout the community.
Traditional events include the Cors Clavé concert at Poblenou Cemetery at 13:00 on 1st November, paying homage to Josep Anselm Clavé. Meanwhile, five city cemeteries will host Mass for the Deceased at various times throughout the day, maintaining religious traditions that remain important to many Barcelona residents.
