Barcelona is hosting the annual European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA) conference until 12th October, with over 200 participants from across Europe and what organisers are calling a historic agenda. The event, organised by Pride Barcelona, features 11 workshops and presentations – the largest number of initiatives ever held at this gathering. It’s also the most well-attended conference to date and extends over four days to debate the challenges facing the LGBTI movement in Europe.

Barcelona’s mayor Jaume Collboni championed the role of cities as centres of resistance and democratic hope. He said the council has made clear its defence of freedoms and the fight for dignity and an egalitarian society. Meanwhile, Sònia Guerra, General Secretary of the Department of Equality and Feminisms, highlighted that Catalonia has made inclusion and diversity an essential value. She underscored the Government’s commitment to ensuring equality is real and lived in freedom and dignity.
During the European Pride conference, delegates will debate the evolution of Prides in countries like Hungary and Ukraine. Barcelona’s candidacy for WorldPride 2030 will be presented to attendees. Additionally, the conference will select the host city for EuroPride 2028 between Manchester and West of Ireland.
The city council announced the conference details on Thursday in a statement. They emphasised Barcelona’s continued commitment to LGBTI rights and equality. This gathering brings together activists, organisers and advocates from Pride organisations across the continent.
Barcelona has long been a destination for the LGBTI community, with its annual Pride festival attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. Hosting this European conference reinforces the city’s position as a leader in LGBTI rights and activism on the continent.
