Barcelona was the setting for an unexpected meeting this Sunday, when Catalan President Salvador Illa met global music star Bad Bunny at the Sagrada Família. Illa later shared a selfie from the visit on his official Instagram account.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, visited the basilica discreetly. He wore a cap, sunglasses and a hood to avoid being recognised by other visitors, and reportedly did not want to leave Barcelona without seeing the temple.
The visit came after two concerts in the city last Friday and Saturday at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Those shows marked the start of his European tour in Barcelona, before the run continues in Madrid and then other cities including Lisbon, London, Paris and Brussels.
In Spain, the tour includes ten planned concerts at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid on 30 and 31 May, and 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14 and 15 June. More than 600,000 tickets have already been sold for the Spanish dates.
The Sagrada Família, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of Barcelona’s best-known landmarks and continues to attract major international figures. Pope Leo XIV is also scheduled to visit the basilica next month, according to the report.
Bad Bunny’s latest album, Debí tirar más fotos (Should Have Taken More Photos), shares its name with the current tour. The artist’s wider profile has grown sharply this year, with La Vanguardia describing him as a musical phenomenon in 2025.
