Barcelona residents and visitors can book free guided tours on La Rambla this summer, as Amics de la Rambla brings back 20 in-person routes from 18 June to 14 July.

The association says the programme follows the strong demand seen in earlier editions, when all places were taken within hours. The tours are designed to encourage people to “ramblear”, the local idea of strolling slowly and taking in the street at a relaxed pace.

The walks will focus on the promenade’s history, architecture and everyday life, with themed itineraries covering details that are easy to miss on a normal walk. For more on the group behind the programme, see our report on Àlex Balletbó’s re-election as president of Amics de La Rambla.

La Rambla runs for 1.2 kilometres from Plaça de Catalunya to the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell, and remains one of Barcelona’s best-known streets. The tours aim to give a clearer view of how the promenade has changed over time, while keeping its cultural role in the city centre in focus.

Registration is required, and the booking period opens this Monday through the official Amics de la Rambla website. Places are limited, so anyone interested should sign up early. The association also continues to offer six online routes, launched in December 2025, which can be completed on a mobile phone in a walk-game format.

Those digital routes include questions and interactive challenges, and can be done alone, with family or with friends. For readers who follow local community updates, you can also browse our Community coverage and Sport tag for more Barcelona news.
