Barcelona’s launching a new space to encourage young people to create digital content in Catalan. The Casa de la Creació Digital en Català comes from a partnership between the PSC government and opposition group ERC.

The project emerged from budget negotiations for 2025 and the language commission chaired by Republicans. It’ll receive around 3 million euros over the next two years, running from 2026 to 2027. Meanwhile, the space will occupy the ground floor of Illa Glòries, the large public housing block at Plaça de les Glòries.

This initiative aims to promote Catalan-language digital content creation. The target audience is Barcelona’s young people specifically. However, the strategic location at Glòries isn’t accidental. The city wants to make this space a reference point for linguistic and digital innovation.

The project addresses a real need. Catalan has a strong presence in Barcelona’s streets but struggles online. This space will give young creators the tools and support to change that. Furthermore, strengthening Catalan’s digital presence helps ensure the language stays relevant for future generations.

The 3 million euro investment shows both parties take this seriously. It’s not just about language preservation. It’s about making Catalan a vibrant part of Barcelona’s digital future.
