Barcelona police are investigating after five people rammed a stolen car into a luxury boutique in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi in the early hours of Wednesday, then fled with designer goods. The shop, Aura The Club, is at 9 Bori i Fontestà Street.
The group used a Seat Leon, believed to have been stolen, to smash through the metal shutter and display window. The method, known as alunizaje, gave them fast access to the shop before they escaped. The suspects were dressed in dark clothing and had their faces covered with balaclavas and caps.
They took handbags, fanny packs and wallets from Hermès, Maison Goyard and Louis Vuitton, plus Kith clothing, Hermès and Chrome Hearts caps, and Chanel accessories, according to the shop. The value of the stolen goods is expected to run to several thousand euros, once a full stock check is complete.
After the robbery, the suspects left in two other vehicles, an Alfa Romeo Giulia and a Volkswagen Golf. They abandoned the Seat Leon at the scene. Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrived shortly after, but the thieves had already gone. The shop stayed sealed off for forensic work through the morning of 26 May.
Mossos d'Esquadra have opened an investigation and are reviewing CCTV from the shop and nearby streets. The abandoned Seat Leon has been taken away for forensic analysis as officers look for clues that could identify the group.
The break-in also left the shop facing repair costs. The metal shutter was flattened, and a rubbish container was moved into the road, creating a hazard. For more Barcelona local updates, see our Community coverage and Sport section.
