The interruption affects nine stations along the L10 South route. The Department of Territory (Conselleria de Territori) is carrying out these works. They involve updating the line’s signalling system.
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) confirms that shuttle buses will operate to cover the affected section. These measures aim to ensure continued mobility for residents and workers.
Essential Infrastructure Upgrades
The works form part of a broader 3.5 million euro initiative. This project aims to optimise operational conditions and enhance service reliability across Barcelona’s metro network. The L10 South line serves vital areas. These include the Zona Franca industrial estate and the Port Comercial | La Factoria. These areas are crucial for Barcelona’s economy and logistics.
The estimated number of affected users stands at 12,500 on weekdays. This figure drops to 7,400 on Saturdays and 6,000 on public holidays. These numbers reflect the average validations for the out-of-service section.
Alternative Transport Services
TMB has outlined specific shuttle bus schedules to mitigate disruption. A primary bus service will run daily from the start of service until 00:00. This route operates between Can Tries | Gornal and ZAL | Riu Vell. It follows the usual L10 South metro route by road.
During peak hours, nine additional vehicles will reinforce this shuttle service. This ensures sufficient capacity for commuters.
Additionally, a night shuttle bus service will operate between Zona Franca and Can Tries | Gornal. This service runs from 00:00 to 02:00 on the night of 3 April to 4 April. The last departure from Zona Franca on Friday is at 01:30. Five buses will staff this night service.
On Sunday, 5 April, the L9 South service will conclude at 00:00 instead of 02:00. This change occurs due to technical reasons. To cover this impact, eight buses will run between Can Tries | Gornal and Collblanc. Passengers can then connect with the L1 line at Torrassa or the L5 line at Collblanc.
Further Travel Options
TMB also reminds passengers of existing public transport alternatives. Regular bus lines 109 and V3 offer routes that coincide with parts of the L10 South. The L9 South also shares a route from Collblanc to Can Tries | Gornal.
Furthermore, the FGC Ildefons Cerdà station provides another convenient transport option. This station is located just 400 metres from the affected metro line.
These essential upgrades aim to improve the long-term efficiency and dependability of the L10 South line. The works will ultimately benefit thousands of Barcelona residents and workers who rely on the metro for daily travel.
