Barcelona Metro L4 service is suspended between Verdaguer and Barceloneta stations following a serious incident at Urquinaona. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) confirmed the partial suspension this afternoon. Consequently, trains are not running on the affected central section.

The disruption began around 14:38 on Thursday, 5 February. Reports indicate a person was struck by a train at Urquinaona station. Therefore, station accesses in the city centre have been closed to the public.

Barcelona Metro L4 Suspended: Emergency Response

Emergency services responded immediately. The response includes two crews from Bombers de Barcelona, two Mossos d’Esquadra units, and a Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques team.

Meanwhile, TMB confirms the rest of Line 4 operates normally. Services are running on two separate sections.

  • Between Trinitat Nova and Verdaguer.
  • Between Barceloneta and La Pau.

Passengers affected by the suspension should use alternative surface transport. The following bus lines cover the affected section:

  • V17
  • V19
  • 47

TMB provides updates via social media. However, no estimated time for full service resumption is available. This incident follows a recent fatal train accident on the Rodalies network.
