Barcelona Metro Centenary Reveals Professional Secrets
The programme includes visits to the Metro Control Centre, the automatic line workshop at ZAL, and the legendary Gaudí ‘ghost station’. Furthermore, these exclusive tours will run across three weekends in November and December, with spaces allocated by lottery due to expected high demand. According to official TMB communications, this initiative forms part of the transport network’s 100th anniversary celebrations.

Registration opened on Tuesday 4th November for the weekend visits scheduled for 22nd-23rd November, 29th-30th November, and 13th-14th December. Consequently, lottery draws will take place on 10th November for the first weekend, 17th November for the second, and 24th November for the final weekend. This system ensures fair access to these highly sought-after experiences.
The Barcelona Metro centenary programme follows the success of similar initiatives throughout 2025. Additionally, visitors will gain unprecedented insight into how Barcelona’s underground system operates behind the scenes. The Control Centre visit particularly offers a unique perspective on managing the daily movement of millions of passengers.
This latest announcement continues the Barcelona Metro’s ongoing centenary celebrations that have captivated both residents and transport enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the inclusion of the Gaudí ghost station provides a fascinating glimpse into the network’s hidden history and unused infrastructure.
With only 2,016 places available across all three weekends, the Barcelona Metro centenary visits represent a rare opportunity to explore the heartbeat of the city’s transport system. Registration remains open via TMB’s official channels for those hoping to secure their place in these exclusive tours.
