Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has unveiled T-estimo, a special Sant Jordi-themed transport ticket designed exclusively for love messages rather than passenger travel. The card will be distributed free across Metro stations and bus lines ahead of 23 April 2026, when Barcelona celebrates the feast day of Catalonia's patron saint and World Book Day.
A bookmark, not a boarding pass
T-estimo functions as TMB's official bookmark, allowing users to write and share personal love messages. The initiative mirrors the success of a similar campaign in 2025. "Following last year's positive reception, in 2026 we want to fill every corner of the network with demonstrations of love," TMB stated.
The Love Cam, another centrepiece of this year's Sant Jordi celebrations, will operate at Diagonal Metro station on 23 April. A photographer will invite passengers to participate in affectionate gestures such as kisses and embraces. Images will be projected in near real-time across Metro screens and shared via TMB's official social media accounts.
Record-breaking day expected
Sant Jordi has become one of Barcelona's busiest public transport days. On 23 April 2025, TMB recorded a historic peak of 2.61 million validations across its Metro and bus network. According to Mercabarna-flor, Catalonia is expected to sell approximately 7 million roses during Sant Jordi 2026.
More than 17 authors will sign copies at stalls in Portal de l'Angel and Plaça de la Catedral. Street florists traditionally sell red roses throughout the city during the celebration. Sant Jordi, which marks both Catalonia's patron saint and International Book Day, has become one of the city's most emblematic occasions, drawing significant crowds to public spaces and transport infrastructure.
