Barcelona Monument Hotels are opening their doors to the public for three days of free guided tours from November 27-30.
The initiative, organised by the Barcelona Hotel Guild in collaboration with the city council, marks the fourth edition of these popular architectural routes that showcase the city’s most historically significant hotel properties.
Thirteen designated monument hotels will participate in this year’s event, offering visitors exclusive access to spaces normally reserved for guests.

Previous editions have consistently attracted over 500 local residents per event, with all available spots typically selling out quickly. Exploring Barcelona Monument Hotels’ Hidden Treasures
Participants will discover remarkable artistic and architectural features throughout the tours. The Claris Hotel & Spa GL, housed in the former Palau Vedruna, showcases an impressive pre-Columbian art museum with extensive Mayan artifacts. Meanwhile, the Monument Hotel occupies the historic Casa Enric Batlló, a late 19th-century architectural gem in the Eixample district.
The Medinaceli hotel reveals stunning frescoes and a spectacular spiral staircase blending classical and modern design. Furthermore, visitors can admire the Art Nouveau facade of Hotel Bagés and explore the famous ‘Cerdà Houses’ at Catalonia Eixample 1864. These tours provide rare insight into Barcelona’s architectural evolution through its hospitality landmarks.
Additional highlights include the Asian art collection at Granados 83, featuring Hindu and Cambodian artworks from the 10th and 11th centuries. The initiative reflects broader efforts to enhance cultural tourism in Barcelona by showcasing the city’s unique heritage beyond conventional attractions.
Other participating properties include Le Méridien Barcelona with its neoclassical facade, the Continental Palacete featuring a Versailles-style Louis XV salon and marble fireplace, and Duquesa Suites located in an 18th-century manor house. The H1898 hotel occupies the former General Company of Philippines Tobacco building, constructed in 1881 by Catalan architect Josep Oriol Mestres.
According to recent reports, the monument classification currently applies to 24 hotels across the city. Jordi Clos, president of the Barcelona Hotel Guild, emphasises that these properties represent “unique and very special spaces with close historical and cultural links to Barcelona.” The guild hopes to attract both local residents and visitors through this cultural initiative.
The free tours require advance reservation through the official website. Each hotel offers multiple time slots between 6:30pm and 8:00pm during the three-day event. This accessibility initiative complements other public engagement programmes organised by the hotel guild, including terrace weeks and other community events that bring Barcelona’s architectural heritage closer to its citizens.
