In Barcelona and the wider metro area, an 18-year-old motorcyclist from L'Hospitalet de Llobregat died on Thursday night after a second vehicle struck him on the C-31. The incident happened near kilometre 199 in L'Hospitalet, and it is now Catalonia's 51st road fatality this year.

The crash happened shortly before 22:00. According to the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT), the motorcyclist first collided with a car. While the two drivers were exchanging insurance details, a second vehicle ran over the rider.

The victim, who lived in L'Hospitalet, suffered severe injuries and was taken to Hospital de Bellvitge. He died there shortly before midnight.

Mossos d'Esquadra received the alert at 21:50 and sent three patrols to the scene. The Medical Emergency System (SEM) also sent several ambulances to help at the crash site.

L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is one of the main cities in the Barcelona area, with more than 260,000 residents. The C-31 is a key route linking Barcelona with its southern suburbs and the airport. Authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances of the crash.
