The extensive police action involved Mossos d’Esquadra working alongside National Police, Guàrdia Urbana and Port Police throughout the weekend.
Final figures reveal 54 reports for drug-related offences or weapon possession, alongside 21 traffic violations. Furthermore, Transport Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) submitted 259 additional reports concerning public transport users involved in similar criminal activities.
Barcelona Police Extend Operation to Nightlife Venues
Police officers conducting the macro-operation also inspected two Barcelona nightlife establishments, though authorities haven’t specified their locations. Consequently, this inspection yielded seven additional reports for weapon and drug possession, plus various administrative infractions.

During these venue inspections, officers detained two individuals – one subject to an existing judicial order and another investigated for possessing prohibited weapons. According to official reports, the entire operation required 13 hours to complete, running from Friday through to Sunday morning.
This weekend’s police deployment forms part of the ‘Pla Daga’ initiative launched by Mossos d’Esquadra last autumn. The plan specifically addresses increasing bladed weapon incidents in the Catalan capital, particularly within certain nightlife areas.
Comprehensive Security Strategy for Barcelona
Meanwhile, Mossos maintain their active ‘Pla Kanpai’ programme in Barcelona, designed to combat repeat offending throughout the city. Recent weeks have seen coordinated macro-operations targeting known thieves with criminal records in Barcelona areas.
Mayor Jaume Collboni has simultaneously announced that Barcelona will receive five new courts: one on-call court for minor offences and four reinforced criminal courts for rapid trials. This development aligns with wider security enhancements previously outlined by the administration.
Additionally, an agreement between Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat and national government will enable Guàrdia Urbana officers to consult reoffending data records. This coordinated approach represents a significant step forward in Barcelona’s comprehensive security strategy targeting weapon-related crime and repeat offenders across the metropolitan area.
