Catalan police have made a Barcelona school arrest. The Mossos d’Esquadra detained a man suspected of assaulting a victim and throwing stones at a city bus near a school in Barcelona’s Sants-Montjuïc district. This arrest follows months of worry about safety along the bus route used by students and local people.
According to a statement released by the Catalan police on Wednesday, the suspect targeted the number 55 bus line. Notably, the investigation started after the Tres Pins school administration reported a series of worrying incidents between February and October last year.

Escalation of incidents leads to Barcelona school arrest
Following the initial reports, both the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Guàrdia Urbana (GUB) contacted the school. The situation seemed to calm down at first. However, authorities started a school protection plan to watch the area and the nearby wooded parts of Montjuïc.
The situation got worse on 15 January when a new stone-throwing incident happened. This led police to increase their watch. They also set up mobile checkpoints throughout the hilly land around the school to find the person responsible.
Suspect detained
The increased operation worked. Police identified and arrested the suspect. Since the arrest, no more similar incidents have been recorded in the area. Investigators think the detained person was the only one responsible for the attacks.
Despite the arrest and the end of the attacks, authorities are keeping a security presence in the area. For example, the police said that this measure aims to keep a continued “feeling of calm” for the school community and families at the Tres Pins school. This Barcelona school arrest shows ongoing efforts to protect students.
