Diverse Activities and Collaborations

The festival, now in its third consecutive year at the El Born site in the historic Ciutat Vella district, has become a consolidated annual event for scientific dissemination. More than 120 institutions, entities, and research groups are involved. Over 350 participants will contribute to the wide array of activities. These include interactive workshops, demonstrations, and talks. Additionally, open days at the Martorell Exhibition Centre and the Winter Garden will provide unique access to scientific exploration and historical botanical collections.

Focus on Brain Science and Architecture

This year’s programme introduces dedicated spaces for brain science. This special focus coincides with Barcelona hosting the FENS Forum, Europe’s largest neuroscience congress. Architecture also features prominently. This aligns with Barcelona’s designation as World Capital of Architecture, highlighting the city’s commitment to urban innovation and design. These themes offer fresh perspectives on human understanding and the built environment.

The festival places a strong emphasis on youth programming. New evening activities on Saturday cater specifically to younger audiences, encouraging engagement beyond traditional daytime events. A scientific escape room challenges young minds during morning sessions, promoting problem-solving skills. Organisers will award a bicycle for the 14-17 age group. Additionally, they will award two tickets to Sónar 2026 in the 18-25 category, incentivising participation.

Engaging Experiences for All Ages

Other dynamic activities include a nanosciencce aperitif, offering a casual yet informative discussion on cutting-edge research. A science slam will also take place. Presenters will deliver six micro-talks on current research projects in an engaging format. The audience will then vote for their favourite presentation, adding an interactive element. The scientific outreach collective Fried Neurons will perform a unique show. It combines clear explanations, audience participation, and a touch of humour to demystify complex scientific concepts for everyone.

Saturday evening concludes with the Neuro-Concert. This innovative rock show explores the emotional impact of music, its inherent beauty, and its crucial role in creativity and development. FENS Forum and Lost to the River will present this unique performance. It targets both young people and adults, offering an entertaining way to understand neuroscience.
