Barcelona has a new free exhibition at the ground floor of the Columbus Monument viewpoint, where Amics de La Rambla and Elisava are showing 11 souvenir designs linked to the city and La Rambla.
The pieces were created by students on the Degree in Design and Innovation. The display opened on Tuesday morning and runs until 2 July, giving visitors a chance to see how young designers are rethinking what a Barcelona souvenir can be.
According to Amics de La Rambla, the exhibition is meant to prompt reflection on the souvenir itself, as a small object that can carry ideas about local culture. It also aims to underline the role of the artisan between design and industry.
The show sits at the base of the Columbus Monument, at the southern end of La Rambla near Port Vell, a spot that is easy to reach for both residents and visitors. More information about the venue is available on the Barcelona City Council website.
La Rambla remains one of Barcelona’s best-known avenues, and souvenirs are part of the visitor experience there. This project asks how those objects can better reflect the city’s character, while also giving space to emerging design talent. For more Barcelona coverage, see our Culture and Community pages.
