Barcelona's 10 permanent study rooms are extending their opening hours to support students preparing for the 2026 university entrance exams and final school assessments. This initiative by the Ajuntament de Barcelona provides critical study spaces across the city, including Ciutat Vella, Sants-Montjuïc, and Sant Martí.

Extended Hours and Real-Time Capacity

The extended schedule will be in effect during the weekend before the Selectivitat exams, scheduled for 9, 10, and 11 June 2026. Students can check a real-time capacity map provided by the Barcelona City Council. This interactive tool shows available seats, addresses, and specific opening times for each location.

City-Wide Study Locations

Most study rooms operate within municipal libraries. Some are also found in youth facilities, such as the Centre d’Informació i Assessorament per a Joves (CIAJ) in the Raval district. Standard extended hours run from Monday to Thursday, 20:30 to 0:00.

However, study rooms in Ciutat Vella and Sant Martí open earlier, from 20:00 to 23:30. Several locations, including Sala Vapor Vell in Sants-Montjuïc and Agustí Centelles in Esquerra de l'Eixample, also open on Sundays. The Eixample district alone is home to over 260,000 residents, many of whom are students.

Planning Your Study Session

Students are encouraged to consult the online map before visiting a study room. This ensures they find an available space during peak exam periods. The City Council aims to help students succeed in their academic pursuits.
