Barcelona prepares to roll out its own filmic Walk of Fame as it welcomes the 40th Goya Awards—a tribute both grand and modest to the city’s cinematic stars.

When February 2026 arrives, Barcelona won’t just host Spain’s most prestigious film ceremony—the Goya Awards—it will walk its own aisle of fame. In a gesture rich with cultural pride, the city will unveil a “Walk of Fame” along the lower Diagonal, celebrating Catalan winners of Goya Awards across nearly four decades.
Spain’s flagship film accolades, the Goya Awards, will return to Barcelona on 28 February 2026, taking place at the Auditori Fòrum within the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) . The event marks a symbolic homecoming—Barcelona last hosted the gala in the year 2000, making this return a cultural full circle .
Mayor Jaume Collboni introduced the Walk of Fame concept: a modest, temporary installation featuring large-format photographs of Catalan actors who have received Goya Awards over 39 editions . Rather than emblazon stars in the pavement, this promenade will showcase the faces and achievements of icons such as Eduard Fernández, David Verdaguer, Laia Costa, Enric Auquer and Quim Gutiérrez, among others .
The location chosen speaks volumes: the stretch of the Diagonal from Parc del Poblenou toward the sea, strategically close to the CCIB, offers a cinematic walk aligned with the gala itself .
This initiative is not without precedent in Catalonia. Castelldefels launched a “Paseo de las Estrellas” in 2024, while in 2019, an unrealised proposal by ADETCA aimed to create a “Rambla de las Artes” celebrating artistic figures like Montserrat Caballé and Carles Santos . Now, Barcelona revives and realises that vision—this time under the banner of the Goya.
Moreover, the exhibition forms part of a broader cultural tapestry surrounding the Goyas: it will coexist with open-air screenings of nominated films, talks with stars, and public installations—all inviting citizens to engage with cinema beyond the red carpet.
