Travellers planning long-haul summer holidays from Catalonia will have more options this year. Singapore Airlines has announced a significant increase in its service frequency. To meet the surging demand for travel to Asia, the carrier is boosting its direct Barcelona to Singapore flights from three to five weekly departures during the peak summer season.

Summer 2026 Schedule Expansion for Barcelona to Singapore Flights

The expanded schedule will operate between 1 July and 3 September 2026. This strategic move aims to reinforce connectivity during the period of highest demand. Therefore, it offers holidaymakers greater flexibility when planning trips to Southeast Asia and beyond.

Dai Haoyu, the airline’s Vice President of Marketing and Planning, highlighted the motivation behind the adjustment. “These adjustments offer our passengers more travel options and better connectivity in key markets, especially during periods of maximum demand,” he stated.

Currently, direct flights on this route take approximately 13 hours. Prices typically range between €800 and €1,500. Consequently, the non-stop service is a competitive alternative to indirect routes for travellers prioritising comfort and time efficiency.

Surging Interest in Asian Destinations

The decision to increase capacity comes amidst a broader boom in tourism to the region. According to a recent study by tourism intelligence firm Mabrian, East Asia and Southeast Asia account for 31.7% of international tourism demand in the first half of 2026.

Japan leads the interest in East Asia, which alone represents 16.3% of global demand. Meanwhile, Southeast Asia captures 15.4% of the market. Travellers show strong interest in:

  • Vietnam
  • Indonesia
  • The Philippines
  • Cambodia
  • Singapore

Singapore: A Gateway to Asia

For Spanish travellers, Singapore serves not only as a final destination but also as a vital hub for connecting to the wider region. In addition, Singapore Airlines is enhancing its intra-Asia connectivity to support this. Between 29 March and 24 October 2026, the carrier will increase its service between Singapore and Bangkok, Thailand, to seven flights daily.

Singapore itself continues to attract visitors with its unique blend of futuristic infrastructure and traditional culture. Renowned as one of Asia’s safest and cleanest cities, it offers iconic landmarks like Marina Bay alongside heritage districts such as Little India. This is important for growth because, as business leaders have noted, the chronic infrastructure deficits in Catalonia are hampering development. As a global financial hub and a leader in gastronomy, the city-state remains a top draw for both leisure and business travellers from Barcelona.
