Barcelona is preparing a ten-day citywide festival from 26 June to 5 July 2026, as the city builds towards the Tour de France Grand Départ. The event, called the Festa Major del Tour, will bring more than 60 cultural and commercial activities to all ten districts.
The programme is set to become Barcelona’s third major annual festivity, alongside Santa Eulàlia and La Mercè. It includes 10 concerts, 8 performing arts and dance companies, and 18 street performances. The main stages will be at Plaça de la Catedral and Plaça Margarida Xirgu.
At Plaça de la Catedral, the line-up includes Doctor Prats, Sexenni, 31 FAM, Suu, Sidonie, Ladilla Rusa, Ambauka and Xiula. The same space will also host traditional Catalan activities such as giant dances and castellers. Plaça Margarida Xirgu will focus on music, dance, circus and street theatre, with artists including Joan Garriga, DJ Trapella, Zum Zum Teatre and Mercabanda.
A travelling show called Le Tour on Tour will move through all ten districts between 27 June and 2 July. Led by scenic creator Sergi Ots, it combines music and street theatre with a cycling theme. Another project, Barcelona en ruta, will add 18 decentralised cultural actions in squares, markets and commercial areas across the city. For more on local events, see our Community coverage.
The festival also ties in with Barcelona’s role as the European capital of local commerce in 2026. More than 2,500 shops, 40 municipal markets and 6 shopping centres will take part, along with 14 commercial hubs. These include the Born district, Passeig de Gràcia, Eix Gaudí and Gran de Gràcia in the Gràcia district. You can also follow our Sport updates for more on the Tour build-up.
A new food item, the Pa del Tour, will also be launched. Baker Enric Badia of Forn Elias created the 12-centimetre round bread roll, which is inspired by a bicycle wheel and made with wheat flour, semolina, olive oil, rosemary, thyme, sun-dried tomato, Comté cheese and poppy seeds. The Ajuntament and the Gremi de Flequers de Barcelona are behind the project, and from 26 June around 2,400 bakeries across the city will offer it. The guild will also share the recipe and a tutorial with interested bakers.
The Festa Major del Tour is a lead-in to the official Tour de France Barcelona site. On 2 July, the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau will host the official team presentation, while the Fan Park will run from 2 July to 5 July with interactive experiences for cycling fans. The team time trial will take place on Barcelona’s streets on 4 July, and the second stage will finish at Montjuïc on 5 July. To mark the countdown, ten giant cycling jerseys will be installed in different districts and emblematic buildings across Barcelona will be lit in yellow.
