The industrial action, organised by unions CCOO, UGT FESMC and CGT, will affect both Trambaix and Trambesòs networks throughout late October and November.
Consequently, commuters should prepare for reduced services during key travel periods. The Department of Labour has established minimum service requirements of 40% during peak hours and 20% for the remainder of each strike day.

Barcelona Tram Strike Schedule and Impact
The strike dates are strategically scheduled across multiple weeks to maximise pressure during negotiations. Workers will walk out on Friday 31st October, followed by Mondays 10th and 17th November, and Fridays 21st and 28th November.
Furthermore, the industrial action comes after what unions describe as “a year of failed negotiations” over collective bargaining agreements. Approximately 250 tram workers are participating in the dispute, seeking improved working conditions and service standards.
Union representatives have acknowledged the inconvenience to passengers while requesting “understanding and support” for their campaign. They emphasise that the Barcelona tram strike aims to secure both better labour conditions and guarantee quality public transportation for all users.
The ongoing dispute reflects broader transport challenges in the region. Meanwhile, recent R3 train service reductions have already extended journey times for many commuters, creating additional pressure on alternative transport options.
Key union demands include salary increases linked to inflation rates and greater investment in tram maintenance and safety. The Barcelona tram strike represents the latest chapter in ongoing labour negotiations affecting the city’s public transport network.
