Barcelona’s Vall d'Hebron Hospital is set to begin construction on a new 10-storey outpatient clinic building after the summer, according to Generalitat President Salvador Illa.
The new building will go up on land in the Teixonera neighbourhood, in the north of Barcelona. It is intended to expand the hospital’s capacity and provide modern space for specialist consultations.
Illa made the announcement on Monday during the inauguration of the hospital’s new Paediatric and Adolescent Oncohaematology Area. He said, “After the summer, the works should begin. The commitment is there.”
The project is part of wider healthcare investment across Catalonia. Illa also mentioned work at Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona, Clínic Hospital in Barcelona, and Verge de la Cinta Hospital in Tortosa.
Vall d'Hebron is one of Barcelona’s largest public hospitals, and the new outpatient clinic is expected to support the thousands of patients who use it each year. For more Barcelona coverage, see our Community and Sport pages.
