Barcelona has experienced a particularly wet 2025. The Fabra Observatory recorded 73 days with measurable rain between January and September, well above the climate average.

According to Meteocat data, the average for this period is 60 rainy days. The 73 days already approaches the annual mean of 82 days. Early October added two more rainy days to the total.
Accumulated rainfall reached 450 litres per square metre in the first nine months. This exceeds the normal amount for this time of year. Moreover, Barcelona’s rainfall has surpassed northern European capitals.
ACN compared Barcelona’s figures with London, Paris, and Berlin. All three cities at higher latitudes received less rain than Barcelona during the same period. The comparison highlights how unusual 2025 has been.
The pattern differs from typical Mediterranean weather. Barcelona usually sees concentrated rainfall in autumn and spring. However, this year’s distribution has been more consistent throughout the months.
Meteorologists at the Fabra Observatory continue monitoring patterns. They note that October’s early rain suggests the wet trend may continue. Residents have noticed the difference, particularly those comparing this year to recent drier periods.
