The Barcelona City Council has now deactivated the municipal action plan after weather conditions improved and wind gusts subsided throughout the city.

Emergency Services Respond to Widespread Wind Damage

Barcelona Firefighters managed 329 separate incidents during the activation of the emergency plan, with 138 requiring full mobilisation of resources. Christmas Decorations Damaged as Parks Reopen

The powerful winds also damaged Christmas decorations in several prominent locations. Affected areas included Balmes street intersections with Diputació and Aragó, Passeig de Valldaura, and Passeig de Gràcia. Meanwhile, all city parks and gardens remained closed during the alert period as a precautionary measure.

According to recent transport developments, the city continues to manage various infrastructure challenges. The council has confirmed that parks will reopen progressively throughout Friday morning following safety inspections of trees and facilities.

This weather event follows previous environmental alerts affecting the Barcelona area. Emergency services maintained high readiness throughout the incident, ensuring prompt response to all reported damage. The deactivation of the strong wind alert signals a return to normal conditions across the city.
