Barcelona police are investigating a violent street fight in La Marina del Port, near Zona Franca, after dozens of young people clashed on Tuesday night. The incident happened around 22:00 at the junction of Passeig de la Zona Franca and Carrer del Foc.
Several people were injured by blows and contusions, but Catalan police said none of the injuries appear life-threatening. During the fight, some participants set urban furniture on fire, and emergency services quickly put out the small blazes. Police also said no bladed weapons or firearms were used.
Mossos d'Esquadra and Guàrdia Urbana officers responded to reports of a major disturbance. By the time they arrived, most of those involved had fled on foot or on electric scooters. No arrests have been made so far.
The Mossos have opened an investigation into attempted homicide, a hate crime and arson, according to El Caso. Officers are now working to identify and detain the people responsible.
The case comes less than two weeks after another serious killing in the same area, when a man was shot dead in Carrer de la Mineria. Residents of La Marina del Port, part of Barcelona’s wider Zona Franca area, have voiced concern about rising street violence and public safety.
