The Museu de la Xocolata in Barcelona has closed the 2024–2025 season with more than 100,000 visitors, according to figures released on Tuesday. Around one in five attendees took part in one of the museum’s activities, many of which were designed for children.

Of the 20,000 people who joined workshops, half were school groups, 6,000 were families and 4,000 were general visitors. While tourists make up the majority of museum-goers, locals are the main participants in the interactive activities.
The most popular experiences included making personalised chocolate lollipops and small creative chocolate pieces, especially appealing to families with children from the age of three.
Founded 25 years ago by the Pastry Guild of Barcelona, the museum has grown into a major cultural attraction. For the new 2025–2026 season, it will offer around a dozen workshops and tasting activities tailored to different age groups and interests.
Eduard Rico, the museum’s Director of Programmes and Projects, emphasised that activities have become an increasingly central part of the museum’s identity. He added that the team will continue to strengthen school-based workshops, giving pupils the chance to learn outside the classroom in a fun and interactive way.
