Barcelona metro station Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica has completed a major accessibility transformation.

The Generalitat’s Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition has finished works to adapt the station for people with reduced mobility, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

The project on this stop of the yellow L4 line involved an investment of €5.8 million.

This significant funding was secured through the European Union’s Next Generation funds. Consequently, the station now features three new lifts connecting the street to the platforms.

One lift connects the street directly to the station vestibule. Furthermore, two additional lifts now link the vestibule to the train platforms themselves. The platforms have also been adjusted to align perfectly with train height, creating a level boarding surface.
