The world-renowned Catalan chef made these remarks while opening the Gastronòmic Fòrum Barcelona 2025, which runs until Wednesday 5th November at Montjuïc’s Fira de Barcelona venue.

During his keynote address about Catalan culinary history, Adrià emphasised that Catalonia currently enjoys an outstanding moment in its food scene. Furthermore, he described the region’s variety of dishes, products and recipes as “brutal” in their diversity. In an interview with Betevé’s B de gust programme, the chef explained that Barcelona boasts an extensive gastronomic offering worth exploring.

Adrià specifically mentioned having a personal list of 100 Barcelona restaurants he regularly visits. “Barcelona is marvellous – having 100 restaurants in one city where I can eat is really something,” he stated. These include Can Vilaró for traditional Catalan cuisine near Sant Antoni Market, Dos Palillos for Asian fusion in El Raval, and the three-Michelin-starred Disfrutar in Eixample.
Other notable mentions include Come for Mexican cuisine in Sant Antoni, Enigma (Albert Adrià’s one-Michelin-star restaurant), Al Kostat for Jordi Vilà’s Catalan cooking, and Granja Elena for traditional market cuisine.
