Flandes Square renovation in Barcelona’s Coll neighbourhood will begin in March 2026, following final approval from the City Council.

The comprehensive Flandes Square renovation will completely redesign the confluence of three streets: Passeig de la Virgen del Coll, Carrer de Cartago, and Carrer de Clotés.

Consequently, the plan focuses on expanding leisure areas, planting additional greenery, and installing new urban furniture. Furthermore, the works will renew tree planting to better suit the street sections and improve overall plaza lighting.
Gràcia district councillor Laia Bonet welcomed the approval, stating the transformation will allow “pedestrians to gain space and walk with greater comfort and safety.” She emphasised that the project forms part of the municipal strategy to “liberate pavements from obstacles and make them wider, particularly in mountain neighbourhoods like Coll.”
This initiative represents one of five major transformation projects planned for Barcelona’s Gràcia district under the Pla Endreça framework. Additionally, similar improvements are scheduled for Carrer de Pere Llobet in Coll and the neighbourhood’s access from Carmel through expanding the confluence of Ceuta, Tirso, and Santuario streets.
