Barcelona is preparing for another edition of the Mercè Arts de Carrer (MAC), now firmly established as one of Europe’s most prestigious street arts festivals. This year, the event expands further, bringing circus, dance and small-format theatre to six sites across the city, cementing its central role in the city’s major annual celebration.

Around seventy international companies will take over parks and squares, with the Parc del Fòrum becoming the new hub for contemporary circus, replacing Montjuïc Castle. Among the standout acts are Copenhagen Collective with The Genesis, Motionhouse with Wild, and Belgium’s *Les P’tits Bras.
The programme, curated by Jordi Duran, Jordi Querol, Cristina Cazorla, Sergi Ots and Tortell Poltrona of Pallassos Sense Fronteres, embraces a broad outlook. One of this year’s novelties is the night-time series ‘Glam Canalla: Nits al Nord’, mixing popular culture, sharp social commentary and unrestrained humour in the Parc de l’Estació del Nord.
The six venues include the Parc de l’Estació del Nord, the Parc de l’Aqüeducte, the Parc de la Trinitat, the Joan Maragall Gardens in Montjuïc, the Parc del Fòrum, and the Port Olímpic. The offer ranges from intimate and sensory performances to large-scale family shows. Meanwhile, Manchester, this year’s guest city, will showcase ten companies in co-productions with Catalan artists.
Taking place between 23 and 28 September, the MAC 2025 underlines Barcelona’s cultural vitality and its enduring commitment to art in public spaces.
