Tech entrepreneur Pietro Maria Picogna, founder and CEO of AI platform Pack, has praised Barcelona's dynamic startup ecosystem and quality of life, calling the city his home and the best in Europe. Mr Picogna, 27, highlighted the city's ability to attract international talent and foster innovation, positioning it as a leading European hub.
Barcelona's Appeal for Founders
Mr Picogna, who has lived on four continents and holds three university degrees in Business, stated he chose Barcelona because it "combines quality of life, international talent and a very dynamic startup ecosystem." He believes the city allows founders to "think big," enabling the creation of tech companies with European and global ambitions. Pack, his platform, uses artificial intelligence and science to map, evaluate, and develop people's skills within large organisations.
He highlighted Barcelona's international openness, its capacity to attract talent, and the strength of its entrepreneurial community. Barcelona's startup scene is "very lively," with events, networking opportunities, investors, and professionals from various countries fostering new opportunities. This environment helps new businesses grow.
Improving Connectivity and Growth
However, Mr Picogna suggested improving connectivity with other strategic markets. He also recommended further helping the growth of startups in the city. Barcelona already stands as a very attractive hub, but it can strengthen its role. He sees it as a bridge between Europe, the Mediterranean, and emerging markets like the Middle East. This expansion would boost the city's global reach.
Future as an Innovation Hub
Looking ahead, Mr Picogna expects Barcelona to become "increasingly international, technological and sustainable." He believes this will solidify its position as one of the great European innovation hubs. He affirmed his personal connection to the city, stating, "Barcelona is my city, I call it home. It is the best city in Europe and it is here where I want to build my future and live in the best possible conditions." His vision aligns with Barcelona's ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and talent.
