The 21st edition of Barcelona’s acclaimed BCNegra 2026 noir festival has officially concluded. It recorded nearly 10,000 visitors across a week of literary celebrations. Organised by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB) and curated by writer Carlos Zanón, this year’s festival centred on the theme of ‘Malavida’ (Low Life). Consequently, it championed the noir genre as an essential tool for interpreting the present.
From iconic venues like La Paloma and the Boqueria Market to the solemn Saló de Cent at City Hall, the festival transformed the Catalan capital into a hub for crime fiction enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the programme featured 42 official activities and eight parallel events. Therefore, it successfully blended literature with cinema, music, and interactive experiences.
