The tetralogy comprises four individual biographical films, each focusing on one of the band members. These films function independently. However, they collectively offer a comprehensive perspective on the iconic group. Sam Mendes holds full rights to the story and music of The Beatles members. This unprecedented project plans to reveal previously unknown details about the Liverpool band’s origins, formation, and rise to fame.
Filming Locations and Cast
Filming for the tetralogy commenced in the United Kingdom last winter. Barcelona is one of the next locations the production company has chosen for shooting scenes, according to Rac1. The actors portraying The Beatles will arrive in the capital of Catalonia in the coming months. Paul Mescal plays Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson portrays John Lennon, Barry Keoghan takes on Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn acts as George Harrison.
The production team scheduled the Barcelona shoot for this spring. It could potentially extend into early summer. However, officials have not yet disclosed the exact filming locations within the city. Barcelona’s streets will primarily simulate areas of England for the production.
The Beatles’ Barcelona Connection
Despite simulating English settings, the film series might reference The Beatles’ historic concert at Barcelona’s Plaça Monumental in 1965. This event marked one of the group’s most emblematic moments. It was one of only two concerts the band ever performed in Spain, the other being in Madrid. The Barcelona show also concluded their European tour, making it a significant piece of local music history for the city’s residents and fans.
This major film production highlights Barcelona’s growing appeal as an international filming destination. The arrival of such a high-profile project brings significant attention and potential economic benefits to the city. Local authorities and residents await further details regarding specific filming schedules and any potential impact on public spaces.
