Barcelona rapper Alfonso G.S., known as Leur, is the focus of a benefit concert in nearby Badalona on 7 June. Supporters say the event will raise money for his legal defence while the case over his mother’s death continues.
Mr G.S., 54, has been held at Brians 1 prison since 22 November. The Guardia Urbana of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat arrested him on 19 November. Police suspect he pushed his 83-year-old mother, Neus, from the window of their flat in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The concert, called Free Leur, is being promoted on social media and on Sala Estraperlo’s channels. The venue is in Badalona, next to Barcelona. It starts at 18:00 on Sunday, 7 June, and will include DJs, beatboxers, breakdancers, concerts and open mic performances.
Organisers also plan to sell merchandise to collect donations. One organiser said, “Our brother Leur is unjustly imprisoned in Brians 1 for an act he did not commit.” Supporters and friends have described him as one of the best beatboxers in the world and a key figure in Barcelona’s 1980s hip hop scene.
Neighbours and other residents in the Collblanc area of L'Hospitalet gave a different account after the death. They described him as unstable and violent, and said Neus had suffered abuse. Lourdes, a close friend of Neus, said the case was “a chronicle of a foreseen death”. Other residents said they had heard loud noises and shouts before Neus fell from the window.
Friends of Mr G.S. continue to defend his innocence. They say he was asleep when his mother fell, and that Neus had dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The legal case remains open, with authorities investigating a possible homicide offence. For more Barcelona local news, see our Community coverage and Sport updates.
